Guild Wars
I didn't want to do it, but I went out and bought Guild Wars today. Everyone else in the house has bought it and started playing this past week. I know Burr really loves playing these online games with me, so I decided to join in.

This is still a major deal for me because I'm still not much of a gamer. If you guys remember, WoW took two years of my life and slowed my artwork down to a crawl. I'm going to try to make sure this game doesn't do the same to me.

So why not continue WoW? Well, again, everyone in the house is playing Guild Wars now. Not Wow, and my reasons for playing WoW in the first place are now gone. I played to play with my friends. They've all moved on; to other games, to other servers, or to other things altogether and just quit. That's what I did when I reached Level 60. The expansion wasn't enough to lure me back. I imagined all I had waiting for me was more grinding, more boring game play where characters were only as good as their gear, and more people trying to get me to do more instances, which I sucked and was too slow at.

Okay, so why get lured into Guild Wars, besides everyone else is doing it? ...it's free. There's no subscription with this. The online game play is free.

I'm installing the game right now. I have no idea what my character's name will be, what server I'll be on, or what kind of characters I'm going to make. I'll make another post and give you guys an update later.

I've got a house of four furs playing here if anyone's interested. Let me know if this is your current game. Who else plays GW?

I have to stay away from these types of games because I could get so sucked into them. You have four roomates playing it. The gamer in me finds that really cool. That has to be the most enjoyable setup.

Good luck in maintaining the balance. I hope you don't vanish completely.

I have Guild wars, as does Surge and Mouse if you know them, We have our own guild. In my personal opinion Guild Wars is vastly inferior to wow in most aspects, including game mechanics (you can't jump, climb, or even step over certain inclines) and even story and plot development. The world of guild wars just isn't as interesting. It is extremely easy to hit the max level and have a high level of equipment, then you are left wondering what you should do and why. Since the only real rewards from beating certain things are titles, slightly different/sidegrade equipment/skills, or neat toys. Plus, most people tend to be on different stages of the game, making it hard to party together without someone having to repeat a lotta old content. "Missions" can be annoying. Zoning into a different area and needing to zone back again will respawn everything you just killed so you have to waste time killing it all over again. One of the most infuritating things though is that since all of the game is instanced to you and your party, if you get disconnected and can't reconnect right away you will lose all progress to whatever mission or quest you were on.

The plus side, however, is that past the game(s) you don't have to pay any fee, so theres no pressure to play to get the most out of your money, you can pick it up and put it down at anytime. Aaannnnddd.. uhm.. You can play solo or group since you can take a party of "Heroes" and Henchmen NPCS out to do anything if you don't wanna party or can't find enough party members. Annddd.. I think that's about it honestly. >_>

P.S. There are no servers. Everything except towns and quest hubs are instanced as I said(Specific to you and whoever you are playing with). Everyone is connected to guilds wars.

The game wasn't really meant to be a single player PVE game anyways Pagan so of course they will be lacking on alot of things...it's made to be purely for Player VS Player.

True, but even in that, Wow with it's class imbalances or TF2 satisfies my craving to pwn other people. Guild wars pvp doesn't fetch my interest much, maybe I just need to try it some more. X3
